My Take on Predicted Fashion Trends

As 2023 begins, so does a new fashion cycle. Every year, certain trends are predicted for spring, summer, fall, and winter looks. For this fashion cycle, we are going to look at a few predictions and I will give you my (biased) opinion.

Sheer Clothing

Honestly, if done right, I love sheer clothing pieces. The colors of the sheer piece and whatever is worn underneath need to coordinate, even if it’s just basic nude pieces. I’ve seen sheer pieces worn over shirts and look incredible, so it’s not just a scandalous piece of wardrobe.

I also love longer sheer pieces worn with skirts. The only complaint I have with sheer pieces is their practicality in everyday wear. It looks great on the runway, and maybe a night out, but wearing it to class? Slightly tricky.

Long Leather Pieces

Instant miss in my book. I personally am not a fan of long “stiff” skirts (such as jean skirts that go to your calves) and the combination of leather doesn’t sit well with me. Don’t get me wrong, I love leather pants and jackets, but this doesn’t do it for me.

Cutouts

Cutouts have been around for a while now, and I LOVE them! I love the concept of a mostly modest piece of clothing but spicing it up with a little cutout at the waistline. It shows skin but not too much and brings some dimension to the dress or shirt. I’m glad they’re staying around for 2023.

Low-Rise

Ah, the infamous low-rise pant/skirt. A lot of people I know hate them and I understand why. However, I don’t HATE them if they’re styled right. In my opinion, to have success with low-rise pants, the pants need to be baggy. Tight, low-rise skinny jeans aren’t flattering on anyone. If you match a low-rise, baggy pant with a crop top or oversized tee, I feel I could not hate the comeback of the infamous style.
