Starting Fresh for the New Year

Happy New Year and welcome to 2023 everyone! As many say “new year new me” and I thought it would be helpful to discuss some ideas on how you can get a fresh start to the new year. Most people around New Year choose to make a New Year’s Resolution. But more often than not, most people end up giving up on their resolution or not even attempting it. There are a few ways you can circumvent this but some of the most important things are dedication, discipline, and structure.

Most New Year’s Resolutions are things that we do not necessarily want to do but know we should, or else we would have just been doing these things in the first place. If you want to be able to stick to your new goals for the new year you have to dedicate yourself to what you are doing, or else you will have no motivation to continue it. Similarly, you need to be strict with yourself, no cheat days or blowing it off as you will set a precedent to skip it again. It’s like when you skip a class to sleep instead, and now every time you wake up to go to the class, the urge to skip is stronger the more often you skip. And finally, carve out some time to do whatever your goal is. Whether it be going to the gym, eating healthier, or trying not to procrastinate; if you set a designated time to do these goals, you will get used to it much more quickly compared to if you are doing your goals sporadically. Hopefully, some of the tips will be able to help you with the start of the new year. We hope to see you soon at our next Women’s Wednesday meeting next week!
